Okay, so I need to admit that I have changed my tune about the Hatch. I’m really striving to live an analog life, and I even purchased the same ancient Braun travel alarm clock that lived on my parents’ nightstand for my entire childhood. I neglected to remember, in my haze of nostalgic analog smugness, that waking up to a real alarm clock is by no means a gentle process. It’s more like a dousing of cold water waking you up ever. morning. And when you’re striving to get up at 5am to get the day organized before everyone else wakes up, it is a tiny form of hell. (Effective, yes, but NOT the right foot on which to start the day.) Hatch reached out to me to offer to send me the Restore and it arrived just as we returned from Europe. It was the perfect way to get back on track after jet lag and of course the inevitable cold in the family. The first day I used it I woke up so gently that I was literally stunned when I realized I woke up to an alarm. I’m currently testing my 30-day free trial of the “premium” features, but my friends who also have a Hatch have assured me it’s great without paying for the subscription.
